I’m Janie, aka Mrs Jane Rae Abreu, I gained an extra surname after marrying my Cuban husband and now I feel super exotic!
I met my husband while solo travelling in Cuba, it’s such a wonderful love story but I’ll save that for a rainy day. Instead, here’s a picture of us looking cute!
I am a self confessed travel addict. I went on my first holiday at 6 weeks old and never looked back!
Fast forward a few years and here I am, a virtual assistant working with like minded travellers.
So how did I get here?
Growing up I knew I was destined for travel, but the concept of being a digital nomad or working online just wasn’t an option. I mean, I still remember those IT classes in school with the little paper clip man!

I’m so pleased times have changed (although I kinda miss paper clip guy!) It’s comforting having someone to support you when you get stuck, which is one of the reasons why I became a virtual assistant.
I’ve never been one for convention, I’ve got a back catalogue of jobs and places I’ve lived that include working as a holiday rep in France, teaching English in Spain, managing a chalet company in the French Alps, working on a private yacht and most recently as an international cabin crew manager based in the UAE and the UK.
Each role has had its own unique set of challenges, not to mention some hilarious and sometimes shocking moments! More on that another time!
Of course, I wouldn’t be where I am today without taking some form of action.

I completed a virtual assistant course and I learned new skills, which were both essential steps to becoming a virtual assistant specialising in written and spoken content.
​
But by far the most impactful action I took was investing in myself and my business by hiring additional help.

I got much clearer on my goals and direction.

The time it took me to get things done pretty much halved thanks to better SOPs.

I developed a much better mindset around running a business.
